Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel - Nebraska is seeking applicants for the position of Mechanical Engineer.  The role of the Mechanical Engineer includes, but is not limited to, providing technical support for maintenance and operations, designing and troubleshooting mechanical components and systems, performing mechanical load ratings of various systems, designing and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, designing and troubleshooting water systems, capital project management and assisting with set up of preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Candidate must be willing to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends and holidays.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).
 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field completed or planned completion by December 2021.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Actively involved with a safety team and/or cost reduction team
  • Knowledge of the rolling process or melting process and related equipment
  • Knowledge of structural and civil design
