Primary Duties

DEFINITION Under direction of the Assistant City Engineer, this entry level engineering position involves technical work relating to the engineering activities of the Public Works Department, including Street, Water, Sewer, Solid Waste and Water Pollution Control. Work includes the preparation and review of designs and specifications for the Public Works Department projects, plan review, construction observation, and stormwater management.

Essential Duties

• Prepare and review designs, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works projects.

• Review consultant plans for compliance with city codes, engineering standards, and ADA requirements.

• Assist with field inspections for streets, sewers, water mains, paving, and related infrastructure.

• Collect and analyze field data; prepare construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

• Support traffic studies, zoning and plat reviews, subdivision inspections, and CADD/GIS updates.

• Maintain and update the City’s MS4 Program and perform stormwater facility inspections.

• Track project progress, budgets, and prepare contractor pay applications.

• Provide customer service to departments, residents, and developers.

• Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management preferred but not required; • Ability to obtain a professional Engineer’s license within one to four years is preferred.


Compensation Details

 Salary range  $5,797 – $7,968 per month.
