Primary Duties

The purpose of this position is to provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight for educational programs of study and is charged with the planning, budgeting, and operational management of the division. The position reports to and is a key advisor to the Vice President of Educational Services. The Dean participates in Educational Services and institutional strategic planning, manages the division, provides leadership to the programs, faculty, and staff, and shares in the general administrative responsibilities of the College. The Dean provides oversight of curriculum development, provides impetus for change/expansion; hires properly credentialed faculty and staff; oversees divisional planning; monitors and plans division budgets based on a quality improvement model; provides direction for assessment of student learning; and articulation of courses and programs with other colleges and agencies. The Dean represents the department in relationships with administrative officers, with other departments, and with the community. The Dean promotes cooperation within and between the College divisions in support of the College mission, supports College initiatives, and encourages departmental faculty to be supportive of institutional programs and offering. The Dean is responsible for assisting with effective institutional communication and maintaining a climate that supports creativity and innovation.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires advanced written and oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with individuals and in teams; requires managing and monitoring work performance of an Academic Division including hiring/disciplinary actions performance evaluations and assigning workload. This position is responsible for program review and new program development as well as preparation of departmental budgets and is authorized to approve fiscal/budgeted expenditures. Fund raising and grant work are an essential work in conjunction with the college foundation.

Over three years up to and including five years. Experience in teaching, higher education, and/or supervisor experience preferred.

Work requires specialized knowledge in a professional or technical field. Applicants must have a minimum of a Masters degree in appropriate field.
