Primary Duties

Under the direction of the Fire Chief serves as administrative support for Emergency Management and Fire Division operations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Provides administrative support for the Fire Chief’s office. • Conducts administrative tasks for Fire Marshal activities with organization of inbound/outbound documents, fee collection, and issuance of certificate of occupancy. • Participates in mitigation and prevention activities. • Assists in the acquisition of material for public education programs. • Works in conjunction with shift Lieutenants to check and balance EMS billing items prior to export. • Prepares and coordinates payroll, leave balances and record keeping, to include training records. • Facilitates payment of bills as received by the fire division. • Facilitates the fire division uniform purchasing process annually for existing employees and as needed throughout the year for new employees. • Assists and supports the Emergency Manager in planning for emergencies and disasters utilizing and maintaining networks of resources including volunteers, city, and county personnel resources as well as specialized experts related to the emergency or disaster. • Coordinates with public safety responders in the event of an emergency. • Assists in response, preparation and recovery for potential and actual disasters as directed. • Assists in coordination with Federal, State, and local governments, related agencies, and utilities during an emergency alongside the Region 11 Emergency Manager. • Completes necessary paperwork for emergency management processes including grants. • Assists in formulating and preparing the annual fire division and Region 11 budget and annual reports. • Maintains Fire and Region 11 web sites; and • Performs other duties as required. 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Working knowledge of personal computers and a variety of electronic equipment. • A strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion. • Ability to communicate effectively electronically, verbally and in writing. • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and other individuals involved in day-to-day activities. • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in an organized and efficient manner. • Be credentialed as an Emergency Management worker as defined in State Statute 81-829.39(5) and 81-829.67, or if a new Emergency Manager, be credentialed within the first 12 months of employment. 


Compensation Details

. Salary range $4,046 - $5,544 per month.
