Primary Duties

Wayne State College is seeking an Assistant to the Dean for the school of Business and Technology.

This position is responsible for oversight of the Master of Business Administration program including advising, planning, coordinating, policy adherence, marketing and developing class schedules for graduate studies students.

Nature of Work: 

Provides executive, administrative and analytical support to the Dean in a wide variety of areas such as: budgets, communications, personnel, research and office management. Coordinate activities on the Dean’s behalf, act as liaison to senior management across campus.

Examples of Work Performed: 

  1. Oversees general office operations; processes and maintains necessary paperwork, records and files required to support academic programs.
  2. Monitors compliance with admission requirements, scholastic standards, plans of study, course and graduation requirements.
  3. Recommends admission of MBA students to the program which involves evaluation of transcripts, determining which CBK prerequisites are met, determining if transfer credit is to be received (if applicable).
  4. Advising candidates for degree program regarding program planning and course selection.
  5. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures and requirements.
  6. Compiles data and prepares reports to aid in evaluation of student progress and program effectiveness; may recommend changes or improvements.
  7. Orientation and communication with current and prospective students.
  8. Together with the Dean helps to identify and schedule qualified faculty for class scheduling.
  9. Oversees and implements the development, collection and reporting of assessment data.
  10. Coordinates, produces and implements the marketing for the program in regards to the website, publications and marketing materials.
  11. Prepares and presents data regarding the MBA program to the Dean, department chairs, and/or faculty.
  12. Oversee and manage the financial budgets for the School of Business and Technology including all of the departments; coding and processing purchases and other expenditures, and monitoring all school budgets.
  13. Review department budget and expenditure reports.
  14. Oversees and manages the personnel function for the School of Business and Technology. Duties would include employment contract recommendation preparation, faculty load calculation, verification, load analysis, and annual faculty evaluation scheduling.
  15. Oversee and facilitate the process of onboarding Adjunct Faculty; track teaching assignments; create contract recommendations; and completed forms and/or obtain documents required by Human Resources.
  16. Schedules and organizes special functions and events.
  17. Supervises work study and straight time workers.
  18. Assists with the maintenance of specific discipline accreditation.
  19. Provides assistance to Department Chairs when needed.
  20. Schedules and maintains the Dean’s calendar.
  21. Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in a business related field
• Three years of administrative support work experience
• Experience with budget management, accounting, and office management
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Compensation Details

Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive fringe benefit package. Annual salary range is $49,937-$62,421.

HEALTH AND DENTAL

Coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska with two options: a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) with a $650 deductible

or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a $3,800 deductible.

• Preferred Provider (PPO) = $650.00 deductible, co-insurance 80/20, out of pocket maximum is $4,600. Co-pays are

$35 for primary physician, $55 for specialty physician or urgent care, $85 for ER visits. This plan includes a prescription

discount.

• High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) = $3,800.00 deductible, co-insurance 90/10, out of pocket maximum is $4,350.

Health Reimbursement Account funded by WSC for out of pocket expenses.

• Dental Plan includes two oral exams/cleanings each calendar year with no deductible. Any restorative or maintenance

services cost a $25 deductible per year.

VISION

Coverage through Ameritas-VSP; $20 deductible for an annual exam; coverage includes specified maximums for lenses and

frames and a discount on contacts.

LIFE INSURANCE

All full time employees receive a term life plan with a death benefit of $30,000. Optional supplemental coverage is available.

RETIREMENT

Voluntary contributions are available for full time employees. Once employees meet the minimum age requirements,

employees will contribute 6% of gross salary on a pre-tax basis and WSC contributes 8%. Employees are fully vested from the

first date of contributions. Employees may contribute up to what law allows each year.

PAID LEAVE PROGRAMS

Full time employees receive sick leave, vacation leave, 6 days of bereavement leave, and 13 paid holidays.
