Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel – Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Melt Shop Rover (Melt Shop, Railroad, or Refractory). This position must learn the positions of EAF Utility, LMF Utility, Billet Tagger, and/or Railroad and/or Refractory. The responsibilities for this position also include, but are not limited to, operation of forklift, Telehandler, bobcat, operating a motorized UTV, remote-controlled overhead traveling crane, ARL spectrometer, LECO carbon and sulfur analyzers, several computer systems, various hand tools, production equipment, assisting with locomotive operations, performing switching operations, providing railroad service to all areas of the plant, Cross training on the outside crane, assisting the refractory crew in all areas – ladle relining and maintenance, tundish preparation, mold preparation, tundish slide gate assembly, material handling, and fork truck material handling. Candidate must be able to work rotating shifts and scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor Steel Nebraska will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of railroad experience and or one year of heavy machinery experience.
