Primary Duties

Nature of Work: This is an advanced classification that performs specialized clerical work of an administrative nature of varied scope and complexity requiring a broad knowledge of standardized policies and procedures, and confidentiality in the disposition of work matters.Work requires significant independent judgment, problem solving, and decision making skills within prescribed limitations. Interprets guidelines to specific situations that are not covered by policies or procedures.Work includes the maintenance of various record systems, the creation of reports involving payroll, employee, student, departmental records, and statistical data. Work also includes composing routine memoranda, correspondence and written materials requiring knowledge of institutional policies and procedures, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements. Limited leadership may be exercised over small teams of co-workers or student employees.Occasional supervision and oversight is provided to employees in this classification.

Examples of Work Performed: 

  1. Schedule facility and event reservations for Student Affairs and Residence Life staff.
  2. Assist with student withdrawals: respond to inquiries communicating standards and procedures; review, document and submit forms to various campus offices; monitor, trouble shoot and communicate through the withdrawal process.
  3. Monitor withdrawal spreadsheet for names of students living in the residence halls and report names to Associate Director for Residence Life.
  4. Provide administrative support for the offices of Vice President for Student Affairs, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs (Title IX Coordinator), and Dean of Students: manage schedules and schedule appointments; screen and direct calls or inquiries and provide assistance or refer to appropriate administrator.
  5. Provide immediate response and referral of emergency/crisis situations; compose routine correspondence and communications; provide complex information to students and others regarding college procedures.
  6. Make appropriate referrals; document and disseminate student absence notices to faculty; manage and update confidential student records.
  7. Provide administrative support for Residence Life: screen and direct calls and inquiries for information and assistance.
  8. Coordinate arrangements and confidential materials for judicial violations, maintain records for parking appeals.
  9. Collect and update information; maintain multiple databases and create reports; coordinate and update publications; process athletic department merchandise sales requests.
  10. Manage reservations of the Student Affairs conference room and lactation room on campus along with utilization of tabletop centerpieces for events.
  11. Assist with the planning and coordination of Student Affairs events by working closely with different partners on campus.
  12. Responsible for picking up and delivering mail to staff and coordinating shredding pickup for the office.
  13. Other Duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from High School or educational equivalent, college coursework in Business Administration or related field, and two years of clerical experience.


Compensation Details

Minimum Annual Salary is $39,179.

HEALTH AND DENTAL

Coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska with two options: a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) with a $650 deductible

or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a $3,800 deductible.

• Preferred Provider (PPO) = $650.00 deductible, co-insurance 80/20, out of pocket maximum is $4,600. Co-pays are

$35 for primary physician, $55 for specialty physician or urgent care, $85 for ER visits. This plan includes a prescription

discount.

• High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) = $3,800.00 deductible, co-insurance 90/10, out of pocket maximum is $4,350.

Health Reimbursement Account funded by WSC for out of pocket expenses.

• Dental Plan includes two oral exams/cleanings each calendar year with no deductible. Any restorative or maintenance

services cost a $25 deductible per year.

VISION

Coverage through Ameritas-VSP; $20 deductible for an annual exam; coverage includes specified maximums for lenses and

frames and a discount on contacts.

LIFE INSURANCE

All full time employees receive a term life plan with a death benefit of $30,000. Optional supplemental coverage is available.

RETIREMENT

Voluntary contributions are available for full time employees. Once employees meet the minimum age requirements,

employees will contribute 6% of gross salary on a pre-tax basis and WSC contributes 8%. Employees are fully vested from the

first date of contributions. Employees may contribute up to what law allows each year.

PAID LEAVE PROGRAMS

Full time employees receive sick leave, vacation leave, 6 days of bereavement leave, and 13 paid holidays.
