Primary Duties

Early Head Start (EHS) Teachers are responsible for understanding, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children birth through age three. Promote nurturing and bonding relationships. Encourage self-help skills and provide consistent routines. Work with families to identify goals, strengths, needs and support them in a process which leads them toward self-sufficiency. Assist children in establishing good habits of personal hygiene; change diapers so children are comfortable. Develop weekly lesson plans and send them to supervisor. Conduct screenings within 45 days of enrollments. Communicate with parents on a regular basis. Complete required educational home visits with Parent/Teacher conferences for each child. Attend and participate in children’s MDT and IFSP meetings. Enter documentation for each child and manage child data/reports through the on-line assessment system. Maintain a clean organized room. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies. 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

An Associate’s, Bachelor’s or advance degree in early childhood education or a related field with experience in teaching 0-3 early education and care or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. **The program provides opportunities for staff to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential or advance a degree.


Compensation Details

The starting wage is $17.00 per hour, plus benefits. Wage increasing with education and experience.Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance.
