Primary Duties

Nature of work: 

Oversee the operation of the career services office to include employer engagement. Provide overall direction, oversight, and participation in advising and career development of students; recruitment and retention of employers; securing experiential learning opportunities; and developing new programs to support 21st century career readiness. Accountable for the career services budget, overall vision, and leadership for career services. Provides innovative planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of student success and related career support services, including but not limited to career development, career counseling, and employer development.

Examples of Work Performed: 

  1. Manages planning and arrangement of career-related programs (meetings, workshops, trainings, events, etc.) designed to provide career information, promote resources and develop employer relationships.
  2. Establish connections with relevant campus constituencies, alumni and employers to provide professional development pathways for students.
  3. Contributes to the effort to initiate, maintain, and grow relationships with employers, experiential learning host sites, and professional associations.
  4. Identify, educate and cultivate relationships with industries, organizations, non-profits and business sectors. Conducts site visits to new employers.
  5. Management of communications, to include a comprehensive strategic plan, implementation of marketing and outreach, and reporting of office initiatives and performance.
  6. Participates and assumes team leadership role in campus special projects and initiatives.
  7. Actively promotes the office mission, vision and values and ensures office incorporates these into their daily work and activities.
  8. Maintains a positive and active relationship with employers in the community, sponsors on-campus recruiting, and participates in business and community-development events such as career fairs.
  9. Stays current on changing workforce and career information including salaries, training requirements, and job prospects, industry trends and best practices..
  10. Assists in co-op program implementation and development as needed to include student recruiting, advising, co-op placements, tracking and assessment.
  11. Supervise direct reports, including evaluating performance and identifying professional development and growth opportunities; student employee(s).
  12. Leverage current and new industry partnerships to map undergraduate and graduate recruiting and career opportunities. Engages and collaborates with faculty and leadership.
  13. Provide instruction for Fundamentals of Professional Practice program.
  14. Other duties assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in advising, coaching, teaching, training, counseling, recruiting, human resources, talent development, career services or other in a related academic setting.

Compensation Details

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive benefit package. Annual salary is $59,000.00 - $70,000.00.

HEALTH AND DENTAL

Coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska with two options: a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) with a $650 deductible

or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a $3,800 deductible.

• Preferred Provider (PPO) = $650.00 deductible, co-insurance 80/20, out of pocket maximum is $4,600. Co-pays are

$35 for primary physician, $55 for specialty physician or urgent care, $85 for ER visits. This plan includes a prescription

discount.

• High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) = $3,800.00 deductible, co-insurance 90/10, out of pocket maximum is $4,350.

Health Reimbursement Account funded by WSC for out of pocket expenses.

• Dental Plan includes two oral exams/cleanings each calendar year with no deductible. Any restorative or maintenance

services cost a $25 deductible per year.

VISION

Coverage through Ameritas-VSP; $20 deductible for an annual exam; coverage includes specified maximums for lenses and

frames and a discount on contacts.

LIFE INSURANCE

All full time employees receive a term life plan with a death benefit of $30,000. Optional supplemental coverage is available.

RETIREMENT

Voluntary contributions are available for full time employees. Once employees meet the minimum age requirements,

employees will contribute 6% of gross salary on a pre-tax basis and WSC contributes 8%. Employees are fully vested from the

first date of contributions. Employees may contribute up to what law allows each year.

PAID LEAVE PROGRAMS

Full time employees receive sick leave, vacation leave, 6 days of bereavement leave, and 13 paid holidays.
