?? Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Diagnostics & Repair
    Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks on a wide range of systems including:

    • Diesel engines (e.g., fuel injection, turbochargers, cylinder heads)

    • Transmissions and driveline systems

    • Brakes (air systems, pads, drums, drums)

    • Suspension components (air bags, bushings, springs)

    • Electrical systems (wiring, starters, alternators, lighting)

    • Cooling systems, radiators, HVAC

    • Trailer components, wheel alignments, welding/fabrication work

  • Preventive Maintenance
    Carry out routine PM services: oil changes, DOT inspections, filter replacements, suspension lubrication, and tire rotations to keep vehicles operating reliably

  • Record-Keeping and Documentation
    Maintain accurate logs of repairs, parts, labor hours, and inspection findings for internal reporting and regulatory compliance

  • Safety & Shop Organization
    Keep the work area clean and organized. Adhere to safety protocols and equipment handling standards (PPE, tool safety, shop cleanliness) 

  • Teamwork & Communication
    Collaborate with service advisors and fellow technicians to ensure timely completion of work orders and high levels of customer satisfaction. May mentor or assist junior techs as needed


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent vocational training)

  • At least 1–2 years of diesel or truck & trailer repair experience, or technical training

  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, welding equipment, and DOT inspection processes

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

  • Valid driver’s license; a CDL is preferred but not required

 

  • Tool ownership may be expected; a clean driving record and positive attitude are key 


Compensation Details
  • Competitive Compensation: Estimated pay between $18–$40/hour depending on experience; annual earnings range from $45,000 to $100,000+
