Primary Duties
The Family Services Advocate works with individuals and families by assessing their specific needs using available agency programs and services. Work as a liaison between clients and area social service agencies. Provide case management and assist toward self-sufficiency utilizing the Family Development tools provided. Work with community resources and provide outreach informing them about NENCAP programs. Provide basic tax preparation for clients in the assigned area. Maintain complete and accurate records, filing system and data entry on all clients and contacts into the Clarity database. Responsible for assisting with Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) clinics and operating and maintaining NENCAP’s Norfolk food pantry. This requires the packing, lifting, and carrying of approximately 50-pound units of USDA and food pantry foods in repetition. Must be able to comply with the Agency’s auto insurance standards. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree or experience in a field related to the delivery of counseling and/or social services preferred.
* Relevent skills: Counseling experience, active listening, self-starter, independent worker.
Compensation Details
