Primary Duties

1. Prepares patients fo health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; provides examination gowns and drapes; helps patients to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranges examining room instruments, supplies and equipment. 

2. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviews and/or records medical history; takes vital signs; and confirms the purpose of the visit or treatment. 

3. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; and other assigned clinical duties. 

4. Documents delivery of health care and nursing process in accordance with the clinic's policies and procedures in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner. 

5. Administers all medications and vaccines accurately and documents in electronic health records. 

6. Assists in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly, and aseptic environment of care for all patients and employees. 

7. Initiates referrals to other sources of health care as necessary. 

8. Performs other duties as assigned. 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Ability to efficiently carry out Midtown Health's Center mission statement and comply with is policies and procedures. 

2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity. 

3. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPPA regulations. 

4. Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA)

5. Abillity to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to address clinic's needs. 

6. Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and do appropriate follow-up

7. Ability to work independently and as a team member.

8. Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills.

9. Ability to constructively participate in quality improvement efforts. 

10. Ability to actively participate in marketing and outreach activities when requested and emergency response events when required. 

11. Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills highly desired. 

12. LPN and RN must have knowledge and ability to practice in accordance with the State of Nebraska's Nurse Practive Act. 

13. Knowledge of community health resources for alternate health services. 

14. Knowledge of communuty health nursing principles and practices and clinic functions. 

15. Ability to navigate EHR, Nesiis, and communcable disease reporting systems.
