Primary Duties

Nature of Work: This is an advanced classification that performs complex clerical and reception work involving common office practices and procedures and requiring knowledge of standardized policies and procedures and confidentiality in the disposition of work matters.

Work requires some independent judgment, problem solving, and minor decision making skills based on established policies and guidelines.

Performs varied tasks such as maintaining and processing employee or student records and information and reception and clerical support for the office or department. Work includes producing reports and documents from rough draft or verbal instruction; transcribing and distributing meeting minutes; and coordinating appointments, meetings and travel arrangements. Limited leadership may be exercised over small teams of co-workers or student employees.

General supervision and oversight is provided to employees in this classification.

Examples of Work Performed: 

  • Serve as the main and first point of contact for prospective students and their families
  • Responsible for receiving visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries, including electronic responses
  • Work closely with the Coordinator of Admission Services (Campus Visits) to establish schedules and visit appointments for prospective students (individual, groups, etc.)
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain the best customer service possible
  • Contribute to team effort when required
  • Operate telephone; answer and transfer calls when appropriate
  • Take messages and communicate them to appropriate enquirers
  • Handle outgoing mail; sort and distribute incoming mail
  • Responsible for the main admissions email inbox; including timely responses or the necessary forwarding of messages to the appropriate staff member
  • Responsible for basic data entry as assigned
  • Maintain, order, and stock basic office supplies
  • Oversee use of Admissions Conference Rooms by unlocking door and maintaining schedule
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining office machines, including printers, copiers, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with College rules and regulations in the reception area
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications: Graduation from High School or educational equivalent and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to provide customer support in a prompt, friendly, and timely manner. Additionally, follow-up on a situation through to resolution
  • Ability to maintain composure in a high pressure and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to actively listen to customers to determine real needs
  • Possess great oral communication skills to effectively communicate prospects interest, needs, and requests to Admissions leadership
  • Highly enthusiastic, respectful, and friendly; with a professional and welcoming presentation, and most importantly, possess a positive attitude at all times
  • Solid phone handling etiquette to respectfully engage with guests and customers; and to promptly and efficiently handle a multi-line telephone system
  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate easily with people of various backgrounds and personalities; help establish relationships and build rapport with prospective students and their families
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and multi-tasking, with the ability to effectively prioritize assignments. It is vital to adapt to change easily
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook email, and have ease of use with other web based programs

Compensation Details

Competitive, commensurate with qualifications & experience. Attractive & comprehensive fringe benefit package. Minimum annual salary range is $35,689.

Benefit coverage begins the first day of the month after employment starts.



Coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska with two options: a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) with a $650 deductible

or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a $3,800 deductible.

• Preferred Provider (PPO) = $650.00 deductible, co-insurance 80/20, out of pocket maximum is $4,600. Co-pays are

$35 for primary physician, $55 for specialty physician or urgent care, $85 for ER visits. This plan includes a prescription


• High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) = $3,800.00 deductible, co-insurance 90/10, out of pocket maximum is $4,350.

Health Reimbursement Account funded by WSC for out of pocket expenses.

• Dental Plan includes two oral exams/cleanings each calendar year with no deductible. Any restorative or maintenance

services cost a $25 deductible per year.



Coverage through Ameritas-VSP; $20 deductible for an annual exam; coverage includes specified maximums for lenses and

frames and a discount on contacts.



All full time employees receive a term life plan with a death benefit of $30,000. Optional supplemental coverage is available.



Voluntary contributions are available for full time employees. Once employees meet the minimum age requirements,

employees will contribute 6% of gross salary on a pre-tax basis and WSC contributes 8%. Employees are fully vested from the

first date of contributions. Employees may contribute up to what law allows each year.



Full time employees receive sick leave, vacation leave, 6 days of bereavement leave, and 13 paid holidays.
