Position Description

We’re looking to hire a Field Service Technician to provide installation and maintenance for equipment in the field. This position requires the ability to adapt to a variety of work environments and quickly solve problems. During the 4-5 month growing season, Field Service Technicians will primarily be on the road. The rest of the year will be spent primarily working at the office on production-related tasks, but may also involve some travel and field service work. A company vehicle is provided during work hours. Responsibilities

  • Install or upgrade equipment in various field locations within a 300-mile radius from Norfolk. Occasional travel across the U.S.  may be required to support dealers in other key markets
  • Configure hardware and software components after installation
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • Testing of equipment and troubleshooting issues
  • Document equipment installations and repairs
  • Teach customers how to use equipment properly
  • Manage the stock of replacement parts and equipment
  • Typical hours for this position average 40-50 per week, with up to 60 hours during the busy season.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, trade school certificate or associate degree is preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Center pivot and electrical background is preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills to understand issues customers have and to explain technical information to customers in clear terms
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose problems with malfunctioning equipment
  • Time-management skills to handle appointments efficiently and stay on schedule
  • Attention to detail to spot issues and complete accurate reports about repairs
  • Organizational skills to keep tools and equipment organized while in the field
  • Computer and technical skills to understand the equipment fully

Compensation Details

Pay: commensurate with experience, starting at $45,000 and up

Full time: Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm (off-season) and extended hours during the farming season includings Saturdays until noon
