Summary:

Job Summary: The manager works cohesively with the department director and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure that our mission to Serve Christ by providing all people with exemplary medical service in an environment of love and care is fulfilled. The manager will uphold our standards of behavior and will serve as a clinical resource and a professional role model for staff. The manager will also promote a cohesive structured unit that is Hard Wired for Excellence.

Resident care responsibilities include maintaining the quality, safety, satisfaction and efficiency of resident care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as regulatory compliance. The manager will incorporate current Skyview Villa theory and practice standards in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and patient care standards. This will involve directing, planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating resident care provided at Skyview Villa. The manager is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the unit quality performance improvement plan.

The manager is responsible for the day-to-day unit level operations including financial oversight of resources and supplies. The manager will respond to the needs of the unit by serving as a clinical resource.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:

? Adult (18 years – 65 years)

? Geriatric (over 65 years)

  • Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
  • Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
  • Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
  • Provides necessary safety measures.
  • Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.

2. The Licensed Practical Nurse Manger (LPN) is competent in the duties of a LPN and provides oversight for all delivered nursing care within the unit. See applicable LPN job description.

3. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Department as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to, the age of the patient served.

4. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served.

6. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center/Skyview Villa as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the resident is addressed.

  • Receive inquiries; describe available units and apartments and services provided. Maintain an appropriate waiting list in which to follow-up with inquiries. Schedule and conduct tours and pre-admission assessments for potential customers and other interested parties.
  • Review Resident Services Agreement, Plan of Care and other related admission requirements with residents; acquire the appropriate signatures and authorizations.
  • Review resident specific documentation to assure that it appropriately and accurately represents resident's needs and desires and their social and health related needs or conditions.
  • Assist with follow-up to resident's needs and social and/health related conditions with the resident, family or physician, as appropriate.
  • Develop effective working relationship with governmental agencies concerning Medicaid residents, eligibility and individual plans of care.
  • Assist in interpreting and implementing compliance standards, policies and regulations relating, maintaining survey readiness at all times. Participate in facility surveys made by governmental and other accreditation organizations. Review and assist in the development of a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections.
  • Assist in the recruitment and/selection of competent personnel. Ensure an adequate number of appropriately trained personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of residents. Assist in the planning, scheduling and facilitating of appropriate education for personnel.
  • Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary or as required. Develop a process to plan, schedule, and make purchases within budgeted guidelines and organizational goals, with approval of Administrator.
  • Assists Administrator in setting operational and capital budget for department. Adheres to budget for the department and updates financial workbooks with variance comments.
  • Adheres to and holds direct reports accountable to productivity standards.
  • Holds and documents monthly Resident and/or Family Council meetings. Timely follows up on resident concerns and communicates the resolution with the residents and or families.
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling and implementation of social and recreational programs and activities that supplement the general organization-wide programs/activities, according to the needs and desires of residents.
  • Create and maintain a relationship and process with residents, families and other customers that help to identify concerns, levels of satisfaction and opportunities for improvement.
  • Represent the facility and this organization at meetings with outside agencies and functions as appropriate or requested.
  • Provide creative planning, coordination, support and promotion of special functions in cooperation with other departments and this organization as assigned by the administrator (i.e., volunteer luncheons, Christmas Parties, Mother's/Father's Day, Memorial Service, National Nursing Home Week, special employee functions/recognitions, etc.)
  • Assist residents and families in processing long term care insurance claims.
  • Conduct and document new employee orientation that promotes the opportunity for appropriate and necessary education, training, introduction to personnel and this organization's mission and values.
  • Creates the staffing schedule; expected to work a minimum of one shift per week on the floor and be able to cover nights, holidays and weekends and other open shifts as needed to fill the staffing schedule.
  • Plan and implement special events which serve to advance staff, resident and community relations, (i.e., various internal communications to heighten awareness of customer service "best practices", assist with volunteer and school programs, maintain an adequate liaison with families and residents, outside community projects, etc.).

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or temporary from the State of Nebraska required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire from the State of Nebraska required.

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) obtained within six full months from date of hire required.

Previous Experience Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

Previous clinical experience preferred.

Previous management experience preferred.

Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
