Primary Duties
Become part of NENCAP’S caring team of Early Childhood Educators! We have an opening for an EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER to educate and support preschool age children in our HEAD START classroom at the South Sioux City Head Start Center. 40 hours per week M-F with seasonal layoff. The Associate’s degree starting wage is $15.00 per hour, plus benefits. Wage increasing with education and experience. Bilingual skills a plus. Teachers are responsible for understanding, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for preschool age children. Associate’s, Bachelor’s or advance degree in early childhood education or advance degree and coursework in early childhood education with early childhood teaching experience.
JOB SUMMARY: Teachers are responsible for understanding, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for preschool age children. Oversee the educational aspects of the center, including classroom staff and volunteers. Follow program’s curriculum. Develop weekly lesson plans and send to supervisor. Maintain on-going assessments/screenings for each child. Plan and implement individualized activities for each child according to their MDT/IFSP/IEP. Attend and participate in children’s MDT and IEP/IFSP meetings. Complete required educational home visits and Parent/Teacher conferences. Enter documentation for each child and manage child data and reports through the online computer assessment system. Communicate with parents. Maintain a tracking system of job performance with aides and volunteers and address performance issues. Prepare and conduct introductory and annual performance evaluations for relevant staff. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
EDUCATION: Associate’s, Bachelor’s or advance degree in early childhood education or advance degree and coursework in early childhood education with early childhood teaching experience. The program provides opportunities for staff to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential or advance a degree.
