Summary:The St. Joseph’s RN Manager is a registered professional nurse under the supervision and direction of the department director. The manager works cohesively with the department director and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure that our mission to Serve Christ by providing all people with exemplary medical service in an environment of love and care is fulfilled. The manager will uphold our standards of behavior and will serve as a clinical resource and a professional role model for staff. The manager will also promote a cohesive structured unit that is Hard Wired for Excellence.
Patient care responsibilities include maintaining the quality, safety, satisfaction and efficiency of patient care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures as well as regulatory compliance. The manager will incorporate current St. Joseph’s theory and practice standards in the development and implementation of unit policies, procedures, and patient care standards. This will involve directing, planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating patient care provided in the St. Joseph’s unit. The manager is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the unit quality performance improvement plan.
The manager is responsible for the day-to-day unit level operations including financial oversight of resources and supplies. The manager will respond to the needs of the unit by serving as a clinical resource.

1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:
Neonate (birth – 28 days)

2. The Nurse Manager is competent in the duties of a Registered Nurse and provides oversight for all delivered nursing care within the unit. See RN job description.
3. Performs all responsibilities/duties of a manager.
Role Specific duties include:
- Provides oversight and collaboration with the DON/Administrator in the following areas:
Finance/Budget
- Operational- staffing needs, unit expenses, revenue
- Capital- identifies and researches clinical capital needs
- Labor Control- staffing schedule according to staffing matrix, low census
- Services- evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of current services and new opportunities.
People
- Employee Engagement- develops action plan and strategies to ensure retention of current staff and recruitment of new staff
- Performance Management- responsible for all annual and ongoing staff performance to include support, coaching, discipline, and terminations
- Just Culture- role model of principles, applies principles when managing performance concerns
- Staff Education- in collaboration with the facility educator identifies needs and develops the plan and budget to accomplish, ensures timely completion of required education, works collaboratively with Faith University educators
- Physician Engagement- maintains collaborative relationship to resolve issues and concerns
Quality and Service
- Collaborates with the DON in cascading strategic goals to self and staff, completes goals and monthly updates.
- Resident Experience- evaluates data for opportunities and implements strategies for improvement, responds to resident concerns and takes action as appropriate
- Core Measures/Performance Improvement- monitors and revises processes to improve or enhance compliance
- Evidence Based Practice- evaluates opportunities and implements practice changes as appropriate
- Regulatory- knowledgeable regarding requirements, monitors and ensures the unit and staff are consistently survey ready

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.
