Primary Duties

Wayne State College is seeking an Office Assistant II (School of Education & Behavioral Sciences) 

Examples of work performed: 

1. Performs all the duties of an Office Assistant II.

2. Answers general and operational requests for information either in person, via telephone or email.
3. Greets and directs visitors, students, faculty, and staff.
4. Receives and routes correspondence and messages.
5. Schedules and coordinates Help Clinic appointments and the use of video recording equipment.
6. Maintains files and records for the Help Clinic while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
7. Maintains files and records for current students enrolled in the undergraduate counseling and graduate MSE programs.
8. Assists students, faculty, and staff with a variety of tasks that include, but not limited to, completing forms, preparing and processing documents and student records.
9. Assists the counseling department by attending meetings, composing minutes, producing reports and documents, and assisting students with licensure process.
10. Troubleshoots, assists, and reports technology and maintenance issues in the building.
11. Coordinates book orders with the bookstore and faculty.
12. Schedules special room reservations.
13. Coordinates school campus visits.
14. Assist the Dean’s OA with course evaluations.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Nature of work: 

(May perform all the duties of an Office Assistant I, plus the following)

This is responsible clerical and reception work of moderate complexity requiring professional discretion in the fulfillment of work responsibilities.

Performs varied tasks such as being accountable for a wide range of duties related to student records and information and reception and clerical support for the office or department. Work includes producing reports and documents from rough draft, dictation or verbal instruction, transcribing and distributing meeting minutes and coordinating staff/faculty appointments, meetings and travel arrangements. An employee within this classification is expected to exercise independent judgement in determining work priorities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Specific and general instructions are received from an administrative superior with work reviewed in the form of observation, efficiency and accuracy of work produced. Leadership may be provided for other clerical staff.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required Qualifications: 

Graduation from Senior High School or equivalent supplemented by general clerical or business coursework and one to two years of clerical experience or any combination of skills, knowledge and abilities that meet these requirements.


Compensation Details

Minimum starting salary is $32,760.00

HEALTH AND DENTAL

Coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska with two options: a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) with a $650 deductible

or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a $3,800 deductible.

• Preferred Provider (PPO) = $650.00 deductible, co-insurance 80/20, out of pocket maximum is $4,600. Co-pays are

$35 for primary physician, $55 for specialty physician or urgent care, $85 for ER visits. This plan includes a prescription

discount.

• High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) = $3,800.00 deductible, co-insurance 90/10, out of pocket maximum is $4,350.

Health Reimbursement Account funded by WSC for out of pocket expenses.

• Dental Plan includes two oral exams/cleanings each calendar year with no deductible. Any restorative or maintenance

services cost a $25 deductible per year.

VISION

Coverage through Ameritas-VSP; $20 deductible for an annual exam; coverage includes specified maximums for lenses and

frames and a discount on contacts.

LIFE INSURANCE

All full time employees receive a term life plan with a death benefit of $30,000. Optional supplemental coverage is available.

RETIREMENT

Voluntary contributions are available for full time employees. Once employees meet the minimum age requirements,

employees will contribute 6% of gross salary on a pre-tax basis and WSC contributes 8%. Employees are fully vested from the

first date of contributions. Employees may contribute up to what law allows each year.

PAID LEAVE PROGRAMS

Full time employees receive sick leave, vacation leave, 6 days of bereavement leave, and 13 paid holidays.
