Primary Duties
Schedule: 30+ hours per week, days may vary; rotating call weeknights, weekends, and holidays (must be able to respond within 30 minutes).
Reports To: OR Supervisor
Position Summary:
Responsible for nursing activities related but not limited to the care of surgical patients from pre-op, intra-op and post-op, as well as, helping with Specialty clinics. Surgery and/or critical care experience strongly preferred. Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
• Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patient populations.
• Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
• Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition.
• Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.
• Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met.
• Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure.
• Assists with outpatient clinic as directed by Outpatient Clinic coordinator
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and possess a current RN license in the State of Nebraska. BLS required. Would consider Certified Surgical Scrub Tech
