Primary Duties

If children are your passion, Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership has an excellent  opportunity for an EARLY CHILDHOOD DIRECTOR.  The right candidate will oversee NENCAP’s Early Childhood Programs and school partnerships in our service area.  Main work location is Pender NE.  The Director is responsible for overall operation of the Head Start and Early Head Start Childhood Education Programs including supervision of support staff, initiating and developing the application for grant funds. You will be provided a full range of training and support for success. 

JOB SUMMARY:  The Early Childhood Director is responsible for all aspects and phases of the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. Initiates and develops the application for the HHS/ACF grant funds and other funding opportunities.  Direct and supervise Head Start/Early Head Start Support Staff with program planning, implementation, and reporting.  Work closely with the regional office along with National and Nebraska Associations to ensure compliance and promote best practices.  Work with local school districts and other potential partners to collaborate available resources. Attend and contribute to monthly Senior Staff, Policy Council, Board of Director meetings and/or other assigned committees.  Attend state, regional, and national meetings as required by the Early Childhood Programs.  Coordinate T.E.A.C.H. scholarships and monitor all paperwork involved.  Assure completion of the Program Information Report (PIR) in a timely manner. Work in collaboration with  all other Agency programs to provide high quality services to customers.   Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree with experience in supervision of staff, fiscal management, and administration.  Three years related experience preferred.  Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet.  Must be able to develop expertise in Early Childhood record keeping systems.

Compensation Details

This is a salaried position with wage starting at $25.00 per hour depending on education and experience, plus benefits.
