It’s a brand new day, every single day on the ALLO field service team. No two homes or buildings are alike, so installing fiber to the premise (FTTP) requires mental flexibility, physical dexterity, and a willingness to constantly adapt to changing conditions. We wanted to title this position ALLO acrobat but legal had things to say about. There is no “business as usual” in this position, you’ll arrive on the job each day to find a totally new environment, new questions, new challenges, and new ways to get the job done right. If you’re a creature of habit, this is definitely not the gig for you. If you’re into being outside, trying new things, and can’t stand sitting at a keyboard, we want to meet you.

Responsibilities

Here’s a Typical Day:

  1. Start your day knowing it probably won’t be typical and brand new tasks not listed below are bound to come up.
  2. Select routes and place/bury drops for residential fiber plant.
  3. Operate equipment needed to install buried drops.
  4. Yard and landscaping restoration.
  5. You don’t need to be an acrobat but some climbing may be required for aerial drop work.
  6. Whether flying solo or tackling the day as a team, you’ll be expected to work efficiently and productively. Flexibility is key.
  7. Select materials for use in construction of fiber distribution system.
  8. Secure necessary locates through 1-call system before work is initiated.
  9. Document the construction of fiber plant and provide daily and weekly production reports to the Supervisor.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  11. Provide a safe work environment by being knowledgeable of and enforcing all state, local, federal safety regulations and company safety policies.
  12. Operate and monitor company-owned vehicle and equipment by inspecting condition daily and maintaining a valid driver’s license.
  13. Restoration work – duties as assigned.
  14. Ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from immediate home office area based on client needs, business needs and project scope.
  15. A gym membership isn’t required but you will be expected to lift up to 80 pounds.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Here’s What You’ll Prove at the Interview:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred 1 year of fiber construction experience.

  2. Thorough knowledge of fiber construction and material.
  3. Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and GIS/CAD.
  4. Skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, contractors and company employees.
  5. Good mathematical skills.
  6. Strong organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  8. Ability to operate a company vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  9. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  10. Ability to travel outside of the home office area for extended periods of time based on project and business need.
