Needs to have a thorough understanding of workflow processes and be able to diagram those processes; principles and practices pertaining to patient financial services including billing/collections, medical auditor, cashier, interpreters, switchboard and central scheduling. Understanding of principles and practices of business administration, including personnel management, planning and organizing work, delegating authority, motivating subordinates, appraising performance and administering discipline; applicable laws, regulations, requirements, standards and practices pertaining to patient registration and admitting, including the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAHO) requirements and standards; methods of quality control and quality improvement in a health care administrative setting. Also a working knowledge of computer-based business applications; financial principles and procedures pertaining to budget development, monitoring and justification; standard billing, reimbursement and insurance practices common to the health care industry, including Medicare and Medicaid; medical terminology; typical acute care hospital policies, procedures and routines.
Requires minimum of an Associate's Degree in business management, or healthcare management and demonstrated experience with healthcare revenue cycle concepts, or a combination of education and experience in a healthcare related financial services position. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Requires a minimum of 2-3 years of management experience. All candidates must be able to demonstrate job skills obtained in healthcare financial services or similar type job positions with five to seven years' experience.
